Kiwi vs. .Net 2.0
« on: May 02, 2010, 03:08:05 pm »
I installed Kiwi awhile back and luv the program. It is, at times, a bit slow to respond to a PGM starting.

However, recently I found a bug? I had the .Net 2.0 framework installed and all-was-right-with-the-world. I moved up to .Net 3.5 redistribution, and the-sun-still-rose. I updated to .Net 4.0 and the-gods-were-displeased.

I perform S/W reviews for my company, and I know that between .Net 2.0 and 3.0 some classes were changed and some deprecated. I expect that something similar happened with 4.0.

But at present, Kiwi will not start in a .Net 4.0 with a message that ".Net Framework" not found.

Hello Mike

The slow response is due to rules being checked once per minute. It's meant to be a bit slower so it doesn't stress the system.

Yes, I've had some complains with .net 4.0 RC and normal release. It should be backwards compatible with 2.0 like 3.5 but it looks like it isn't.
Will check for a solution since I don't want to upgrade to 3.5 or 4 just yet. Majority still has 2.0 on their systems

Seems like .NET 4.0 is not an update for older .NET but stands alone. Try to install .net 2.0 again.

Check if you have 2.0 by typing this in your browser's address bar: javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent)

I do not want to uninstall the latest WIN updates for just one PGM.

All that JavaScript show is that I have WIN/NT 4.0, Geko (?) and Chrome.

No biggie; I have liked Kiwi and found it more useful then other Browsers/Timers/Checking/Etc. I wait wait for next ver.

Hi.
Well I've the same problem. Kiwi won't launch with .net 4.0 installed. But I really need 4.0 for some of my softwares.
I tried to install again .net 2.0 from your link, but when I launch it, it shows me a message that .net 2.0 is already installed then closes.

The latest version (1.4.2, May 25th 2010) runs now on .NET 3.5.
Try reinstalling .NET 3.5
